The BOG relies on and welcomes volunteers from any background with any amount of experience. In addition to individuals and small groups from Bowdoin, we have hosted and encourage groups of any size from around Maine or New England to come visit the farm and/or participate in whatever activity is going on. We have hosted a group of BLAST leaders from The Food Project, an environmental studies class from Phillips Exeter High School, and Upward Bound participants during their stay at Bowdoin. We are keen to host others.
We host 40-60 volunteers each season who contribute 140-240 much needed hours of work. Depending on the time of year, volunteers may participate in any aspect of the farm, particularly harvesting, weeding, direct seeding and transplanting.
