It’s an exciting time of year in the gardens as we seem to have something new to harvest each week. We’ve recently harvested carrots, beets, peas, zucchini, kale, chard, lettuce, basil, kohlrabi, radishes, and tons of salad greens. Our work has been made easy over the past few weeks with all the volunteer help we’ve received. A special thanks to our helpers from dining services: Michelle Gaillard, Lester Prue, Jon Wiley, David Crooker, George Alexander, Ken Cardone, Steve Cole, Mark Dickey, and Mary Kennedy. Four members of the IT department also volunteered their time, and we’d like to extend our thanks to them as well: Nancy Grant, Abbie Brown, Mark Leaman, and Andrew Currier. Our lone student volunteer this summer was Maina Handmaker. If you’d like to volunteer, contact Tristan Williams (twilli6@bowdoin.edu) to arrange a time, or feel free to drop in unannounced. We’d love the help, and we think you’d enjoy it too.
