Aboriginal Canoe. European settlers almost completely wiped out the aboriginal Maori people in New Zealand, but some relics of their culture remain Baby Koala. This young koala is just one of many incredible animals I encountered during my time abroad in Australia Bushfire Aftermath. The impact of the devastating wildfires in southern Australia was felt not only by locals, but also by students who forged connections with affected communities while abroad

Just another day at Cerro Cuerici: This view at 10,000 ft was worth rolling out of bed at 4 am for a pre-class sunrise hike Learning from an organic coffee farmer: We made real connections with honest and hard-working ticos; we now buy our coffee directly from his co-op! Green honeycreepers at La Selva: We were encouraged to stop and see the beauty in detail of every living thing in the rainforest

Rebecca Austin, Fall 2008, OTS, Costa Rica

Pablo instructs bat identification in Nicaragua. Leather gloves must be worn to prevent bites from piercing skin and getting rabies, ouch! Red-eyed tree frog on nose. We caught many fascinating critters in Costa Rica. Judging by eye size, I'm not sure who was more surprised by their new discovery! Silver spider creeps along heliconia bract. Just one of our many subjects examined during class out in the field; we never knew what we might find

Cashel Graveyard. This photo was taken at the Rock of Cashel during an archaeological field trip to the site for a class at UCC Protest. Besides studying, a big part of going abroad is the culture. This photo is from a protest regarding the firing of several Cork hurlers UCC Door. Little differences as well as big ones make the study abroad experience more engaging. This interesting door was just another door to a classroom at UCC
