Timeline for Planning Your Off-Campus Study

Start thinking about when, where, why...and then decide!

Come to OCS events like the Jumpstart meeting (September), small group advising sessions, and the Study Abroad Fair (late September/early October), to learn about the process and options. You must then submit an online “Registration of Intent” form by November 1 to proceed with any OCS plans. If you do not receive this form write to OCS and ask for the online form.

Decide where you’re going over the winter. Meet with OCS, read evaluations, talk to professors and peers, and read through websites.

Submit your OCS application.

The application is in two parts: an online portion and paper portion. Online, students indicate a program/university and submit two short essays about this selection and their goals for study away. (Note: This online form is only available upon submission of the Major Declaration form online to the Registrar.) On paper, students indicate which classes they hope to take during this time; if major/minor credit is desired then a faculty member from that area of study must sign the paper form.  OCS will inform students of their approval (or any problems) typically within one week on the final deadline. (Review the OCS Eligibility and Participation Requirements).

Part 1: online portion due February 22, 2017

Part 2: paper portion due February 24, 2017

If petitioning, both due February 6, 2017
