Political scientist Andrew March will present the lecture "Debating the Modern Islamic Rules of War" at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, in Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center. The talk is open to the public free of charge.
March is an associate professor of political science at Yale University. He teaches and writes on problems in contemporary political philosophy, Islamic law, and Islamic political thought.
He is the author of Islam and Liberal Citizenship and is an editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Islamic Law.
He is the recipient of the American Academy of Religion's Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion in the category of constructive-reflective studies.
March is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the University of Pennsylvania.
The talk is sponsored by the Department of Religion and the Lectures and Concerts Fund.
