The Bowdoin Chamber Choir, under the direction of Shannon Chase and Christina Astrachan, will present Henry Purcell's opera Dido and Aeneas at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, in Kanbar Auditorium, Studzinski Recital Hall.
The opera, originally scored for a small group of women in at a boarding school, will be performed by a small ensemble cast of 20 voices and chamber orchestra in a concertized fashion, with the use of theatrical elements such as staging, props and some costuming included.
