The Bowdoin Chorus and Orchestra will be joined by guest singers and dancers for a concert featuring music by Carl Orff, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Bowdoin senior Abigail Isaacson at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, 2008, in Studzinski Recital Hall, Kanbar Auditorium.
Under the direction of Anthony Antolini '63, the Chorus will perform Orff's Trionfo di Afrodite with the Bowdoin Orchestra, members of the Portland Ballet Company, and guest soloists.
The Orchestra, under the direction of Roland Vazquez, will also perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, as well as the first movement of Concerto for Orchestra by Isaacson. (Read more about Abigail Isaacson and other music students.)
The concert is open to the public and admission is free. For more information contact the Bowdoin Department of Music at 725-3747.
The concert is presented as part of "Visual Culture in the 21st Century," a yearlong program of cross-disciplinary courses, public talks, and departmental events exploring the vitality and importance of the visual arts; and in conjunction with the Bowdoin College Museum of Art's major exhibition Beauty and Duty: The Art and Business of Renaissance Marriage.
