The world premiere of a new violin concerto by Elliott Schwartz is among the highlights of a Bowdoin concert by the Portland Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Robert Lehman, at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Studzinski Recital Hall, Kanbar Auditorium.
The distinguished British violinist Peter Sheppard Skaerved will be the soloist in Schwartz's concerto, which is titled Chamber Concerto VI: Mr. Jefferson.
The program will also include the Orchestra's performance of Bach's Suite No. 2 and Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals, the latter of which will feature English professor William Watterson's reading of poetry by Ogden Nash.
