Students, faculty and staff will gather Wednesday, May 7, 2008, for the twelfth annual Honors Day ceremony, a program recognizing publicly the college-wide academic and extracurricular achievements of Bowdoin students during 2007-08. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. in Pickard Theater, Memorial Hall.
The ceremony will include presentations of national awards such as Watson and Fulbright fellowships, Commencement awards, department awards, extracurricular awards, and the President's Award. The Sydney B. Karofsky Award for Junior Faculty will be presented, as well. Bowdoin College student research awards will also be acknowledged.
Assistant Professor of Education Charles Dorn will deliver the Honors Day Address. His talk is titled "From 'Liberal Professions' to 'Lucrative Professions': The Civic Functions of Higher Education in America."
Musical selections will be provided by Nicholas Anthony Kasprak '08, Andrea Gwyneth Lee Printy '08, and Robert James Hao Zhang-Smitheram '11.
