Colin Woodard Discusses "The Lobster Coast" March 1

Author and award-winning journalist Colin Woodard will deliver a talk titled "The Lobster Coast: The Cultural History of Coastal Maine" at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, in Kregse Auditorium, Visual Arts Center.

The lecture will focus on how Maine's history informs the state's culture and landscape today, including present-day policy questions.

A native of Maine, Woodard writes for The Christian Science Monitor and The Chronicle of Higher Education. He has reported from more than 40 countries and six continents, and lived for more than four years in Eastern Europe.

He is the author of the New England bestselling book, The Lobster Coast: Rebels, Rusticators, and the Struggle for a Forgotten Frontier, a cultural and environmental history of coastal Maine (Viking Press, 2004).
