How to Pay with Your Bowdoin OneCard

The Bowdoin OneCard (campus ID card) can be used across campus to pay for things that students need. It's just one card, but it is encoded for various separate functions. It allows students to get into residence halls, to check out material from the libraries, and more. Here are the three main student "accounts" that are all programmed on the Bowdoin OneCard. (Note: Students may not use their Bowdoin OneCards to obtain cash.)

* Dining Board Plan: Meals and dining points are loaded onto the card when students sign up for a board plan through Dining. When students swipe their cards at dining halls, a meal is deducted from their plans and they can go in to eat. When students swipe their cards at the grill, cafe, or convenience store, dining points that come with their board plans are deducted to pay for whatever they purchase (pizza, espresso, etc.).

* Bowdoin OneCard Account: Once students use up the meals and points that come with their board plans, extra meals and food/beverage purchases at the grill, cafe and convenience store are automatically deducted from the Bowdoin OneCard Account. The Bowdoin OneCard Account is the only form of payment accepted at campus laundry facilities. It also pays for making photocopies, purchasing snacks from vending machines, and paying for anything at the Information Desk including event and movie tickets, shuttle passes, and Craft Center classes. (Note: This account does NOT pay for textbooks or other items at the Bookstore or Textbook Center.) Bowdoin OneCard Account funds roll over semester to semester, year to year.

Adding Funds: Visit the OneCard website to deposit funds to the OneCard Account online (http://onecard.bowdoin.edu/onecard/). Funds become available within a couple of minutes after making a deposit. Students may also pay with cash at three card (CSVT) machines that are on campus.

**During Orientation, you may make a cash, check, or credit card deposit to the Bowdoin OneCard Account at the OneCard information table at Smith Union (Tues. Aug. 26 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM, and Sat. Aug. 30 10:30 AM- 3:30 PM). New students will get their ID cards on Orientation Day, August 30, 2008.**

* Bookstore Charge Account (Optional): This account is used for charging any purchases at the Bookstore and Textbook Center to the student bill at the Bursar’s Office. The Bookstore also accepts cash, checks, and credit cards.

Adding funds: You may sign up for a Bookstore Charge Account at the Bookstore website (http://www.bowdoin.edu/bookstore/forms/charge/).
