Bowdoin's music ensembles are open to all students by audition, and in any given semester around ten percent of the entire student body participates. Performances occur on campus in the Chapel, the Tillotson Room, and in Studzinski Recital Hall, which opened in Spring 2007. There are also off-campus performances at other colleges and Tours to places such as Russia, Chile, and Western Europe. Repertoire includes the Western classical tradition, jazz, and world music. Check below or the links in the left-hand column for more information about each group.
Up to six credits of individual performance and ensemble courses together may be taken for graduation credit. Some ensembles may also be taken as non-credit courses. For additional information, please refer to the College Catalogue.
The Department of Music has a limited supply of musical instruments for students to borrow for musical study for the academic year. Please contact Delmar Small in Gibson 9 (x3747) for more information or special requests.
