Bowdoin Orchestra

Director: Roland Vazquez (rolvaz1@yahoo.com)

The Bowdoin Orchestra meets for the last third of every semester, after chamber ensembles are finished. Students wanting to do orchestra for credit must also participate in chamber ensembles.  The orchestra typically shares a concert at the end of the semester with the Bowdoin Chorus, playing either the orchestral part to a large choral work like  Mozart’s  Requiem, or Mendelssohn’s  Elijah, or, more often, a self-standing orchestra piece. Recent pieces performed include Beethoven’s Eighth symphony, the Bizet Symphony in C, and the Mendelssohn Reformation Symphony (Fall 07).

The chamber ensemble auditions also count for orchestra. Orchestra rehearsals occur twice a week in the relevant portion of the semester.
