The Bowdoin College Concert Band (BCCB) is generally a forty member ensemble, comprised primarily of Bowdoin students with the addition of local community musicians. Much in the style of a wind ensemble, the BCCB performs a broad range of standard (and sometimes not so standard) music from the wind band repertoire.
Through the years, the BCCB has had the opportunity to premiere new compositions, and plans are in the works for other such ventures in the near future. New compositions by student composers and faculty have been among those performed. Student performers have also been featured as soloists in performance.
The Bowdoin College Concert Band performs two major concerts per semester, and ocassionally performs at other college events. Additionally, the BCCB has participated in exchange concert programs with Tufts University, Dartmouth College, as well Colby and Bates Colleges.
The ensemble rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, on the Kanbar Auditorium Stage in Studzinski Recital Hall. The first rehearsal will be Tuesday, September 4; advance auditions are not required. Students are encouraged to enroll for credit (Music 275).
