Director Anthony Antolini '63 will lead the Chorus in Rachmaninoff's "Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom," with guest bass soloist Anatoli Panchoshny.

Vogler String Quartet of Berlin
Wednesday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m.
Kresge Auditorium, Visual Arts Center

Founded in East Berlin, the quartet has been called one of the finest of its generation. At Bowdoin they will perform works by Mozart ("Prussian," K. 575), Shostakovich (String Quartet No. 14), and Dvorak ("American," Opus 96).

Toshiko Akiyoshi Quartet featuring Lew Tabackin

The legendary jazz pianist, composer and band leader will perform at Bowdoin at the conclusion of her residency with the College's jazz ensembles. Doulce Mémoire: "Paradis d'Amour"

Doulce Mémoire, a band of seven Renaissance musicians from Tours, France, will join Il Ballarino, two dancers from Florence, to perform "Paradis d'Amour," a ball for the court of Henri IV, King of France.

Belated Bach Birthday Bash
Tuesday, April 25 at 12:00 noon and 7:30 pm
Portland City Hall's Merrill Auditorium

On Tuesday, April 25 the Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ will present Municipal Organist Ray Cornils and the Bowdoin College Chamber Choir under the direction of Robert Greenlee in an all Bach program at Portland City Hall's Merrill Auditorium. The program, which will be presented at 12:00 noon and again at 7:30 pm, will include Bach's Cantata #150 "Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich" sung by the Bowdoin Chamber Choir with small chamber orchestra, the monumental Prelude and Fugue in e minor (nicknamed "the Wedge"), the large setting of "O Lamm Gottes" (from the Eighteen Chorales) and Virgil Fox's ravishing arrangement of Bach's "Come, Sweet Death."

Admission to the concert is a suggested $10.00 at the door.

Flexible Music

Flexible Music is an exciting quartet of guitar, saxophone, piano, and percussion whose music blends the coordination and complexity of contemporary classical music with the dynamism and rhythmic vitality of jazz and rock. Because of its unique instrumentation, Flexible Music is carving out its own repertoire, working with composers to commission and premiere new works. At Bowdoin their program will include faculty member Vineet Shende's tongue-in-cheek homage to James Brown, "Throw Down or Shut Up."

Bowdoin Chamber Choir and Premiere of a New Work by Elliott Schwartz
Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14, at 2:30 p.m.

The Bowdoin Chamber Choir, under the direction of Robert K. Greenlee, will present two cantatas by J.S. Bach—Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (S.150) and Der Herr denket an uns (S. 196)—with chamber orchestra and guest organist Ray Cornils; Elliott Schwartz will premiere a work for organ and chamber orchestra, featuring organist Andrea Printy '08.
