Justin Foster volunteers at Manna Outreach, a program in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Through the program, Justin and his family deliver free baskets of food to senior citizens who have limited resources.
Justin says that the program is an excellent opportunity to consistently be engaged in service and build personal relationships and that the program sheds light on the economic and emotional strain that seniors face while trying to live independent, healthy lives with little or no family support. Volunteers help these citizens by providing monthly grocery baskets to constitute or complement recipients’ food supplies. He has built great relationships with these women, whom he affectionately calls his “grandmothers.” In addition to the monthly basket deliveries, Foster and his family celebrate holidays and birthdays, and provide extra supplies to recipients.
“This program is very beneficial practically and very inspiring on a personal level.”
