Sponsor A Family: Help a Family in Need This Holiday Season

Story posted October 29, 2008

The Bath-Brunswick area Salvation Army is gearing up for another busy holiday season helping local families in need and they are looking for your help! The Salvation Army is a Christian organization, but they welcome all low-income families seeking holiday assistance, regardless of religion. Last year, Bowdoin students, staff, and faculty sponsored 28 local families through the Sponsor A Family program.

As a sponsor, you are matched up with a local family and provide them with gifts, a new outfit for each child, and a food basket or grocery store gift certificate for a holiday meal.

Athletic teams, social houses, dorms, groups of friends, college offices, and academic departments are all encouraged to participate.

To receive price guidelines and to sign up a group to sponsor a family, please contact Sarah Seames at sseames@bowdoin or (207) 798-4133.
