Bowdoin College will again offer the Common Good Grant through the McKeen Center for Common Good. The Common Good Grant provides over $10,000 to local non-profits that serve the greater Brunswick community. With the intent of maintaining current programs as well as funding new initiatives that serve local communities, the Grant is made possible by an anonymous donor interested in providing Bowdoin students the opportunity to learn about the field of philanthropy while developing relationships with non-profit organizations. Grants will be awarded by the Common Good Grant Committee, a group of twelve Bowdoin students advised by the staff of the Bowdoin College McKeen Center. All applications will be reviewed by the student committee and considered on a competitive basis.
Applications are due Friday, January 30th, 2009. Grant application.
A free, optional grant-writing workshop provided by the College for organizations interested in applying for the Common Good Grant will be held on Friday, January 9th from 9:00am - 12:00pm. This is an informational workshop and participation has no bearing on grant decisions. Please contact Susie Dorn by Friday, December 19th to register for the workshop.
In its eighth year, the Common Good Grant Program has provided over $90,000 to the local community through grants of up to $2,500. Past recipients support the educational objectives of the program by reporting on use and impact of funds the following year.
Applications from the community are due Friday, January 30th.
