Need Assistance?

Faculty & Staff

Faculty and staff who are having trouble with their telephones, need new service, or a change in their current service can call the IT Help Desk at 725-3030 or email the Help Desk to put in a work order.

Students

Students who are having difficulties with their telephone can call the Student Help Desk at 721-5050 or email the Student Help Desk to put in a work order.

Placing Calls

  • To reach faculty and staff from a campus phone, dial their 4 digit extension
  • To reach students from a campus phone, dial their 5 digit number
  • To dial an off campus number, dial 9 and the number
  • To dial long distance, dial 9-1-area code and number. When you hear 2 beeps, enter your STC long distance PIN and then press the # key.

The Dialing Instructions document listed in the 2007-2008 Directory has been updated for the new VoIP phones. Please print out these revised instructions and replace the information in your directory.

  • For our Automated Phone Answering Service, press 2.
  • To reach a live operator at any time during the menu options, press 0.
  • To hear Bowdoin College alerts of announcements, including event cancellations or postponements, press 3.
  • For the Admissions Office, press 4.
  • To contact Alumni Relations, Association of Bowdoin Friends, Development, Communications and Public Affairs, or Bowdoin Magazine, press 5.
  • To reach the Athletics Department or for sports information, press 6.
  • For student information and campus events, press 7.
  • If you need directions to the College, press 8.
  • To repeat the menu options, press 9, or press 0 to speak with a live operator.

Ordering Verizon Yellow Pages Directories

To order copies of any Verizon Yellow pages within the State of Maine, e-mail the Help Desk the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Department Name
  • Department campus mailing address (e.g., XXXX College Station)
  • Amount and name of directory(ies) desired (e.g., Portland, Lewiston)
  • Bowdoin department account code to be billed
