Q. How can people on campus reach me?
A. Callers can reach you by dialing 4411 and saying your first and last name (or department name). Your name will then be announced and the caller transferred.
Q. What if more than one person in the directory has the same name?
A. PeopleFind is able to disambiguate when more than one match is found in the directory. The caller is presented with the spoken name recording and department name for each possible match. The caller can then select the appropriate person from the menu.
Q. What about callers from off campus?
A. When calling through the main College line (207-725-3000), callers can select Option 1 from the menu, which will transfer them to the Lyrix PeopleFind system. Lyrix will prompt them to say the "Name of the employee, student or department".
Q. How often is the directory updated?
A. Changes can be made to the directory on a daily basis. The update will take place nightly so changes will be in effect the next day. Employee information is pulled from the Human Resources directory files, and student information is pulled from the Office of Student Records' files.
Q. What if I don't want to be reached through Lyrix?
A. Lyrix does not announce your location or telephone number, only your spoken name (in your voice, if you have recorded it!).
If you are a faculty or staff member and are not listed in the Human Resources directory information, callers will be referred to the Human Resources Office for assistance.
If you are a student, and have designated your information private through the Office of Student Records directory information, callers will be referred to the Office of Student Records for assistance.
Q. What if the system is not recognizing me?
A. Send an e-mail to the IT/Telecom office (sstewar4@bowdoin.edu) with your information.
