Students: Buying a Computer through Bowdoin

We are pleased to offer customized online stores through Dell and Apple. This will allow you to take advantage of academic pricing on a new computer. You may purchase one of our recommended systems, or build your own. If you purchase one of our recommended systems, IT Student Services will assist with any warranty issues you may have.  Visit the Stores.

Minimum Requirements

If you are bringing a computer from home, it should have the following: 512mb memory (1Gb recommended), 1Ghz processor, 80GB hard drive, DVD/CDRW Combo drive, network card.

Recommended Packages:

Latitude D630 laptop with the following: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz processor, 14.1" widescreen display, 2GB memory, 120GB hard drive, DVDRW drive, internal wireless card, 4 year warranty with Complete Care.

 




MacBook Pro 15" laptop with the following: 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 120GB hard drive, Superdrive (DVD-R/CD-RW), 2GB memory, Airport card, 3 year Applecare warranty.

Supplies & Accessories

Cables, headphones, paper and other common computer supplies are carried at the Bowdoin Bookstore.

Software

Microsoft Office is covered under our Microsoft Campus Agreement, which means you won't have to purchase this software separately. To receive your copy of these software packages, you must complete the Campus Agreements Online Signature form.
