If you are denied access, then you may need to configure your windows machine so that it can work with collaboration. Unless you configure your pc according to these directions, when you log in, you won't be authenticated.
Configuring your pc to work with collaboration
if you have Win 95, 98, 2k, NT:
- go to http://academic3.bowdoin.edu/ and follow the directions. When you restart your computer, and log in to Collaboration this time, you should gain access.
if you have Win XP:
- Go to Start/Run... Type in "secpol.msc". (If this command doesn't generate a Local Security Settings window, go to Start/Programs/Administrative Tools**/Local Security Policy.)
- On the left pane of the window that appears, select Local Policies/Security Options.
- In the right pane, double click on: "Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to third-party SMB servers."
- At the window that appears, select "Enabled" and OK.
- Close the windows and restart your computer. When you do, you will be able to log into collaboration.
**If Administrative Tools doesn't appear in your Start/Programs Menu, do the following:
- Right click on your Windows XP "task bar" (at bottom of screen) and at the menu that appears, choose "Properties".
- Click on the Start Menu tab.
- Click on the Customize... button.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- In the Start menu items list, scroll to the bottom. The last item is "System Administrative Tools". Click on the first option (Display on the All Programs menu).
- Click on OK, and OK.
Now when you look in the Start/Programs menu, it will include Administrative Tools and you can complete the steps above.
If you have configured your pc to work with collaboration and your password is still not being accepted by collaboration, you may have to change your password.
