Students, faculty and staff now have a faster and better wireless signal. Over the break, Information Technology staff replaced every wireless access point across the entire campus, covering 95 buildings. Bowdoin boasts over 400 new wireless access points, with the latest technology released just a few months ago. Our campus is one of the the first site-wide deployment of Cisco’s new 3600 series wireless access points.

Bowdoin College provides internship opportunities to support Maine students in applying and developing the skills they learned in higher education to begin their careers. Recently, Bowdoin Information Technology (IT) Division’s current multimedia intern, Alex Koenig, created and produced a video about Bowdoin Information & Technology’s internship program that began in 2003. Through interviews with IT staff and prior interns, you will get a chance to find out what prior interns have done, and what some are still doing.

We thought the packaging looked funny, but in a good way.
We immediately noticed something different when we opened our newest Dell Latitude computer packaging. Long gone were the days of massive styrofoam packaging; we had gotten used to smaller amounts of styrofoam combined with recycled cardboard. But this was different. It was light, smooth, and pretty cool looking. Bamboo!

Information Technology and the Library are pleased to announce the opening of a Geographic Analysis Lab, specifically designed to support geographic information systems (GIS) across the curriculum. We welcome humanists, artists, social scientists, and scientists – anyone whose work would benefit from a geographic lens. The lab was funded with remaining funds from a 2006 Mellon grant and a Dell Computer gift.
