Botany Database

Flight to Freedom With funding from a Mellon Foundation grant awarded jointly to Colby, Bates, and Bowdoin, this web-based image database of plants includes QuickTime Virtual Reality images of selected plants and plant groups for users to turn and zoom. Selected images are also available from the Kate Furbish Collection of paintings.

The Botany Database reinforces biology students' field experiences, enabling them to review the salient features of plant groups with visual images. The plant collection focuses on local flora in Maine.
