Similar to the idea of Dropbox, Ice Box provides a place to securely store your files and be able to easily access them from a mobile device, web browser, or your computer from home or on campus. A nice feature of Ice Box is the ability to share files and folders easily with Bowdoin and non-Bowdoin colleagues. In this hands-on training we will go through the Ice Box interface and learn how to upload files, create folders and how to invite people to share!

Jumpstart to Summer: iMovie - Part I

iMovie is a simple, easy to use video editing program that is included with Apple computers. In this training session we will create a short movie learning how to import video and images, editing techniques, adding titles and trimming, cropping and Ken Burns Effects. Sample files will be used in this class but if you have your own video clips please feel free to bring along!

If you frequently create posters or flyers using tools like Publisher or Pages but seek the greater power and flexibility of Adobe InDesign, then this training is for you. We will look at how to create a new publication, how to edit and control the flow of text, how to precisely position page elements, and how to create a simple reusable template. Time permitting, we will also consider how to create reusable paragraph and character styles and how to draw simple vector graphics.

  • Design a survey composed of various question types (e.g., multiple choice, matrices, hot spots).
  • Create logic in survey flow to bypass unnecessary questions for a segment of respondents.
  • Send personalized emails to targeted people you want to complete the survey.
  • Analyze the responses with tables, charts, and sub-reports.
  • Share the results with others.
