Set Up Spam Filter

The steps below will set up the spam filter on the Exchange server. The filter will stop spam from going into your e-mail inbox. Instead, spam will be placed in a folder called "Junk E-mail", where it will be automatically cleaned out after 90 days. You can monitor the "Junk E-mail" folder from Webmail or any other e-mail client (e.g., Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird) for a few days after you set up the spam filter to ensure that any legitimate bulk e-mail is not lost.

  1. Log in to https://webmail.bowdoin.edu
  2. Click on the Options bar on the left navigation panel
  3. Scroll down to the Privacy and Junk E-mail Prevention section
  4. Check the Filter Junk Mail box
