Bowdoin's PC Laptops to Arrive in Eco-Friendly Bamboo Packaging

Story posted April 29, 2011

We thought the packaging looked funny, but in a good way.

We immediately noticed something different when we opened our newest Dell Latitude computer packaging. Long gone were the days of massive styrofoam packaging; we had gotten used to smaller amounts of styrofoam combined with recycled cardboard. But this was different... it was light, smooth, and pretty cool looking. Bamboo!

Dell has been quietly incorporating greener practices, and in 2010 was named on the InfoWorld Green 15 list. Bowdoin Information Technology strives to make responsible purchasing choices, and we are happy to see the improvement in sustainable packaging (you can even throw it in the compost pile!) from Dell.
