MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Bowdoin College men's tennis player Stephen Sullivan remained unbeaten this fall in winning the Middlebury Invitational last weekend in Vermont. Sullivan cruised to victory in the A Flight Singles Bracket to lead several strong performances by the Polar Bears.
Sullivan went 4-0, including a thrilling 7-5, 4-6, 10-6 win over Middlebury's Andy Peters in the semifinals before dropping Ben Stein of Bates in the finals, 6-4, 6-2. The sophomore is now 7-0 this semester.
First-year Andrew Won finished second in the D Flight tournament, winning three matches before dropping to Eric Vehovec of Middlebury in the finals, 6-1, 6-4. Other strong showings included Oscar Pena rebounding from a first-round loss in the A Singles to take the consolation crown. Alex Caughron won the B Flight consolation bracket as well.
Bowdoin will return to action at the ITA New England Championship this weekend at Williams College.
