HARTFORD, Conn. - The Bowdoin College women's tennis team won the ECAC Women's Tennis Open Championship this weekend at Trinity College. The Polar Bears won four of five flights to take victory.
Bowdoin had a player in each of the five final matches and went 4-1 in the championship matches. Emily Lombardi claimed victory in Flight B over Amanda Tramont of Trinity (6-3, 6-0). In Flight C, Brett Davis defeated Sarah Richman of Brandeis (6-2, 6-0) and Flight D saw Stephanie Langer sweep Cora Wigen of RPI (6-0, 6-0).
In addition the doubles team of Rachel Waldman and Charlotte Hitch took first place over Chadha-Judelson of Brandeis, 6-0, 6-0. Sarah D'Elia reached the finals of the A Flight competition, but dropped to Rachel Rosman of Brandeis in a tremendous three-set affair (6-4, 1-6, 11-9).
The Polar Bears finished with 19 team points, ahead of second-place Brandeis (13.5) and third-place Conn. College (9.5).
