DURHAM, N.H. - In a battle between evenly-matched squads, the Bowdoin College women's rugby team claimed a 29-22 win over the University of New Hampshire Saturday. The Polar Bears improve to 6-1 overall this season and 3-0 in NERFU play.
Bowdoin dominated the opening half and earned a 19-0 advantage entering intermission. Jessica Walker garnered the first try of the afternoon for Bowdoin and was converted by Rebecca Stevens. Soon after, Maria Koenigs fielded a long kick by UNH and returned it the distance to increase the Polar Bear lead. Catherine Jager closed out the half with a try and another Stevens conversion to make it 19-0.
The Wildcats trimmed the lead to 19-12 in the second period, but Bowdoin replied with a pair of tallies from Stevens and Lizbeth Lopez to seal the win.
