CLINTON, N.Y. - The Bowdoin College outdoor track and field team competed at the NESCAC Championship meet Saturday at Hamilton College. The Polar Bear women, behind a first-place finish from Kelsey Borner, placed sixth overall while the men took eighth place.

Borner led the Bowdoin women with a first-place finish in the discus throw, tossing a 40.39 meter mark to set the standard by over four meters. She also earned a top-five showing by placing third in the shot put. Other strong field event showings included Chelsea Jackson's second-place finish in the javelin and Hannah Peckler earning third in the long jump. Shemica Binns finished fifth behind Borner in the discus. In the track events, the women were paced by a fourth-place finish by Laura Onderko in the 1,500, while Christina Argueta was fourth in the 5,000. The women's 4x800 relay team placed third overall.

On the men's side, Luke Fairbanks placed fourth in the shot put while James Bingham earned the fourth-spot in the discus. The top track performers were Thompson Ogilvie in the 1,500 and Damon Hall-Jones in the 200 as both earned sixth-place finishes. In addition, the men's 4x400 relay team placed second overall.

At the meet, Onderko and Ogilvie both reached provisional qualifying times in the 1,500. Nate Krah, who raced at the Penn Relays last week, reached the NCAA provisional mark in the 10,000.
