WATERVILLE, Maine - In one of the closest finishes in Maine State Championship history, the Bates College track team edged Bowdoin College to win the 2008 crown at Colby College on Saturday. The Bobcats accumulated 190 team points to Bowdoin's 188 overall. Southern Maine (121) and Colby (111) rounded out the team scores.

Bowdoin had several individual state champions, led by Damon Hall-Jones, who won the 100 and 200 meter races. Thompson Ogilvie claimed the 1500 meters while Michael Krohn earned the 110 meter hurdles.

Tim Fuderich was the lone field event winner, taking the long jump while the 4x100 relay team of Brendan Egan, Zach Winters, Krohn and Hall-Jones rounded out the Polar Bear victors.

For his performance in the track events, Hall-Jones earned the Hillman Trophy for the most outstanding performer at the State Meet.
