MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University baseball team rallied twice to sweep a doubleheader from Bowdoin College on Saturday. The Cardinals took game one 17-12 before winning game two, 6-5. Bowdoin stands at 12-13 this season while Wesleyan moves to 13-14.

Down 10-2 heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning of game one, Wesleyan rallied to tie led by the three-run homers of senior Chris Simpson, his eighth of the year to tie a Wesleyan single-season record, and sophomore Brice Kelly. It took a four-run burst in the 4th to give Wesleyan the lead for good as Kelly finished off a five RBI game with a two-run single in the inning. Freshman Julian Sonnenfeld had three hits, three runs and two RBI for Wesleyan. Junior Dusty Mones got the win in relief, throwing four innings while yielding two runs, one of them earned, on two hits with six strikeouts. Eight of Bowdoin's 12 runs were unearned thanks to five Wesleyan miscues. Bowdoin had eight hits, two by sophomore Reid Auger, who scored a run and drove in a run. First-year Matt Ruane scored three runs for the Polar Bears.

In the second game, Wesleyan came back from a 4-0 shortfall, taking a 5-4 lead in the 5th as freshman Justin Freres had an RBI double, senior Louis Gabel drove in a run with a single , another run scored on a error and Sonnenfeld walked with the bases loaded. Bowdoin tied it in the top of the 6th as freshman Joe Comizio singled in a run. Wesleyan got a bases-loaded hit from junior Drew Dominguez in the bottom of the inning to produce the winning run as Gabel had taken the mound in the 6th and recorded the final five outs without incident for the victory. Sophomore Carter Butland went the distance for Bowdoin, giving up nine hits and three earned runs. Freshman Brendan Garner had two of the Polar Bears' six hits in the contest while senior K.J.
