BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak in authoritative fashion, tying their season-high in runs scored with a 17-7 win over Thomas College on Friday evening. The Polar Bears improve to 12-11 while Thomas falls to 8-9 this season.
Thomas scored three runs in the top of the first inning, only to see the Polar Bears next 17 unanswered, including a 11-run fourth frame. Several Bowdoin players had strong days at the plate, led by a three-hit, three-run scored effort by Pat Duchette while Brendan Garner also had three hits, three runs and two RBI's. Matt Ruane knocked in three runs with two hits while K.J. Kozens also had three runs batted in. Sam Shain had a team-high three hits for Thomas.
Joe Pace earned the win for Bowdoin after settling down to pitch seven strong innings and allowing six hits while striking out five. Cotnoir took the loss for Thomas by allowing 11 runs over three innings pitched.
