WATERVILLE, Maine - Carter Butland pitched eight innings for the victory as Bowdoin College scored three times in the seventh inning on the way to a 3-1 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference East Division play Friday at Coombs Field.
Bowdoin improves to 17-15 overall and went 6-6 in the NESCAC East, while Colby ends the season at 18-14 and 3-9 in league play.
Colby took a 1-0 lead when Ken Kaufman smacked his first collegiate home run to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning.
With one out in the seventh inning, Brendan Garner went all the way to third on a Colby error in the outfield. K.J. Kozens followed with an RBI single to tie the game. After a single and a stolen base by Adam Marquit put runners on second and third, Reid Auger had a two-run single to drive in the final runs of the game.
Joe Berte had two hits to lead the Polar Bears.
