GORHAM, Maine - The Bowdoin College baseball team suffered a 12-1 loss to the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday afternoon. The Polar Bears drop to 11-11 on the season while the Huskies improve to 16-7 this year.
Southern Maine scored in each of the first four innings to take an 8-0 lead. Bowdoin starter Steve Hall (1-2) was chased after 2.2 innings, allowing five earned runs. The Polar Bears committed six errors on the afternoon as Southern Maine rapped out 16 hits overall.
Bowdoin's Matt Ruane and Brendan Garner had two hits apiece for the Polar Bears. Four relievers combined to allow just two earned runs over the final 5.1 innings.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday when they host Thomas College (4:00).
