BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team stormed to a 9-1 lead and never looked back in a 17-3 victory over Wellesley College on Thursday evening. The Polar Bears (6-2) are ranked 10th in the latest IWLCA Division III poll. Wellesley falls to 5-3 this season after their second loss in their last two games.
Bowdoin exhibited impressive balance in their early run, as six different players scored the Polar Bears' first six goals. Bobbie Dennison led the team with six points on two goals and four assists. Christina Denitzio led all players with a game-high four goals, while Lyndsey Colburn finished with three goals. Amber Evans, Haley Geller and Jenny Holland scored the Wellesley goals.
Stephanie Collins-Finn was outstanding for Bowdoin in goal, stopping nine shots and allowing just three markers. Kristin Jaronczyk was peppered between the pipes for the Blue, making 13 saves. Bowdoin forced 21 turnovers as a team, led by four from Ali Draudt.
