BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior Bobbi Dennison and first-year Ingrid Oelschlager scored four goals apiece to lead the Polar Bear women's lacrosse team a 15-2 win over Connecticut College in both team's season-openers on Saturday. The Polar Bears (1-0) are ranked seventh in the latest Division III national poll.
Bowdoin scored the first six goals of the game, as rookie Katy Dissinger collected a pair of goals in the first five minutes of the contest. Emily Mason broke up the run with a goal for Connecticut College with 9:16 remaining in the period before Dissinger and Oelschalger pushed the lead to 8-1 at the break.
After Dennison and Connecticut's Sarah Miner traded tallies to open the second half, Bowdoin closed the game on a six-goal run to make it a 15-2 final. Dennison added two assists on the day, while Lyndsey Colburn collected two goals and two helpers. Dissinger finished with three goals with Christina Denitzio accounting for the other Bowdoin goal.
Defensively, Steph Collins-Finn made two saves in the win for Bowdoin with Grace Moore and Becca Austin grabbing three groundballs apiece. Jenna Ross stopped 13 shots for the Camels and earned a team-high three caused turnovers.
