WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Williams College men's lacrosse team scored with just 16 seconds left in regulation and earned the game-winner with two seconds left in the first overtime to take an 8-7 win over Bowdoin in the NESCAC regular season finale on Saturday.
Despite the loss, the Polar Bears (9-5, 5-4 NESCAC) are the fourth seed for the NESCAC Tournament that begins on Sunday. Bowdoin will host Connecticut College at 1:00 p.m. at Ryan Field an opening-round contest.
Bowdoin led 3-2 at halftime and appeared poised to win the game when Adam Tracy scored with 1:01 remaining in the fourth quarter. Richard Reuter tied the game for Williams with just 16 seconds left, however, and Nick Fersen netted the game-winner with just two ticks remaining in overtime.
Mike Giordano led the Polar Bears with a goal and an assist. Gordon Convery (six saves, two goals allowed) and Alex Gluck (seven saves) split time in net for the Polar Bears.
