BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College first-year volleyball player Kristin Hanczor (Redding, Conn.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week. Hanczor led the Polar Bears (6-1) to a perfect week as the squad enjoyed their best start to a season since 2003.
Hanczor averaged 3.8 kills per game during a 3-0 week for Bowdoin, which included a pair of victories at the C-B-B Championship Tournament last weekend. In addition to her 38 total kills, she collected a team-high 14 blocks and connected on over 42% of her attacks.
The first-year middle-blocker is off to a stellar beginning to her collegiate career. She leads Bowdoin and ranks second in the NESCAC at 3.56 kills per game.She shared NESCAC Player of the Week honors with Kate Denniston of Tufts.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday when they open their NESCAC slate with a pair of matches at Bates against Tufts and Amherst.
