BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior Lindsay McNamara (Milton, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for September 8. The all-time leading goal scorer in Bowdoin's field hockey history, McNamara tallied eight goals in two games to capture the award for the third time in her career.
McNamara scored three goals in Bowdoin's season-opening 4-0 win over Wellesley Saturday before exploding for five goals in Sunday's 6-0 win over Wheaton. The five goals tied the program record for tallies in a game, set originally by Margaret Burns in 1973 and subsequently tied by Sheila Carroll in 1987.
Already the school's all-time leading scorer entering her final campaign, McNamara's 68 career scores place her in a tie for 46th place all-time in NCAA Division III history.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday evening with a game at Husson.
