BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin senior defender Brian Orr (Simsbury, Conn.) collected First-Team honors while Cullen Winkler (Milton, Mass.) and Max Key (Greenwood Village, Colo.) netted Second-Team selections in All-NESCAC honors announced on Wednesday.
The Polar Bears (12-6) finished as NESCAC runners-up and won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Wednesday, 11-5 over Mount Ida College. Bowdoin will play at Middlebury in the Second Round of the Tournament this Saturday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at Middlebury's field Saturday, beginning one hour prior to gametime. They will be $5 for adults and $3 for children/students.
Starting all 18 games, Orr is third on the team with 38 ground balls this season and anchored a Polar Bear defense that allowed just a shade over eight goals per game this season.
Winkler is fourth on the team in scoring this season with 17 goals and eight assist this year and has come on strong late in the season. The junior midfielder has scored in each of Bowdoin's last eight games, including a game-winner against Colby and two in the NCAA First-Round win over Mount Ida.
Faceoff specialist Max Key grabbed Second-Team recognition thanks to his prowess in the circle, earning the second-best faceoff percentage in the NESCAC by claiming 207-of-307 (.624) this year.
