BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin women's basketball players Katie Bergeron (Bradley, Maine), Jill Anelauskas (Medfield, Mass.) and Alexa Kaubris (Rumford, Maine) were recognized in All-State selections announced last week by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Bergeron was awarded the Maine State Rookie of the Year honor while Anelauskas was tabbed as a First-Team All-State selection. Kaubris collected Second-Team All-Maine. The Polar Bears finished their season with a record of 19-9, reaching the second-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Katie Bergeron was outstanding in her first-year campaign, earning a starting spot midway through the season and finishing strong by averaging a team-high 13.6 points per game over the final three weeks of the season. For the season, Bergeron averaged 8.2 points per game and posted a career-high 24 points and school-record six three-pointers in a NESCAC quarterfinal win over Bates.
Anelauskas was hampered by injury all season, but managed to finish second on the Polar Bears at 11.9 points per game and a team-high 7.1 rebounds per contest. Kaubris netted Second-Team honors after leading the squad in scoring average (12.2) and steals (54).
