BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College senior captain Andrew Hippert (Worcester, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the first weekly accolade for a Bowdoin men's basketball player this season.
Hippert scored a season-high 28 points as he helped his Polar Bears record their first win in tournament history during an 83-50 quarterfinal win over Bates last Saturday. Hippert connected on 10-of-15 shots, including five from three-point range, and scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half, as Bowdoin went into the locker room with a 41-18 halftime advantage and never looked back. Saturday?s win was also the 20th of the season for the Polar Bears, a program record.
The NESCAC has announced ticket information for the upcoming conference basketball championships at Amherst College this weekend. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for children and students. Children under six are free of charge. Bowdoin will receive a limited amount of tickets to sell in the Athletic Department beginning on Wednesday afternoon (2-4 p.m.), Thursday afternoon (1-4 p.m.) and Friday morning (9 a.m.- 12 p.m.). The men's games will be at 6:00 p.m. (Bowdoin-Amherst) and 8:00 p.m. (Trinity-Amherst) on Saturday with the title game slated for 2:30 on Sunday.
