BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's basketball player Katie Bergeron (Bradley, Maine) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The first-year guard sparked the Polar Bears to a 55-51 victory over Bates in the quarterfinals of the NESCAC Tournament, propelling the team into the NESCAC Semifinals next Saturday at Amherst College.
Bergeron scored a career-high 24 points, going 7-for-11 from the field (.636) while tying the school record for three-pointers in a game with six. She also led Bowdoin with six rebounds and three steals, as the Polar Bears remained perfect in NESCAC championship play with an all-time record of 21-0.
The NESCAC has announced ticket information for the upcoming conference basketball championships at Amherst College this weekend. Tickets will be $5 for adults and $2 for children and students. Children under six are free of charge. Bowdoin will receive a limited amount of tickets to sell in the Athletic Department beginning on Wednesday afternoon (2-4 p.m.), Thursday afternoon (1-4 p.m.) and Friday morning (9 a.m.- 12 p.m.). The women's games will be at 12:00 p.m. (Bowdoin-Amherst) and 2:00 p.m. (Wesleyan-Tufts) on Saturday. The NESCAC Championship is scheduled for noon Sunday.
