Three Polar Bears Earn All-NESCAC

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Three Bowdoin College football players were recognized as All-NESCAC performers in awards announced by the New England Small College Athletic Conference on Thursday. Polar Bear senior captain Rogan Donelly (Osprey, Fla.) and classmate Lamont White (Boston, Mass.) garnered First-Team honors, while sophomore Kevin Zikaras (Milford, Conn.) grabbed a Second-Team nod.

The Polar Bears finished 3-5 overall this season, including victories over Williams, Bates and Colby. Bowdoin won the C-B-B (Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) Championship for the second-straight season, earning consecutive titles for the first time since 1997-98.

Donelly closed out his career as one of the top offensive tackles in school history, as he was a bookend on the Polar Bear line this season. Bowdoin averaged 268.1 yards per game behind the 6-4, 275-pound Kent School graduate. The honor is the second-straight First-Team selection for Donelly, who served as a tri-captain on this year's squad.

Lamont White closed out his career with a flourish, leading the Polar Bears with four interceptions this season. The electric cornerback returned two of those picks for a touchdown, tying for third on the team with 12 points scored in 2007. He also defended eight passes and made 21 tackles this season, while his four picks ranked fifth in the league in interceptions. The postseason award is the first for the Roxbury Latin graduate.

Kevin Zikaras collected his first career NESCAC honor thanks to an outstanding sophomore campaign. The linebacker proved to be one of the best in the conference, ranking second in the league with 76 tackles in 2007. He tied a school record with a 17-tackle performance against Bates on November 3.
