BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's soccer team had four players earn All-Conference honors in NESCAC selections announced Thursday. Senior captains Ann Zeigler (Washington, D.C.) and Bobbi Dennison (Freeport, Maine) grabbed First-Team honors, while sophomore Dana Riker (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) and first-year Tiernan Cutler (Sacramento, Calif.) netted Second-Team awards.
The Polar Bears have a record of 12-4-1 entering NCAA Tournament play Friday. Bowdoin reached their first-ever NESCAC Championship game this fall, and will take on Ithaca College at 1:30 Friday in an NCAA Tournament game at Wheaton (Mass.) College.
Ann Zeigler earns First-Team All-Conference honors for the third-consecutive season and is fourthn in the NESCAC in scoring with a team-leading seven goals and 13 assists this autumn. Zeigler broke the program's all-time scoring record and currently has 93 points entering play this weekend, scoring 35 goals and 23 assists. Her goal total is just three shy of the school record held by Marte Holden '85.
Dennison earns a promotion to the First Team after a pair of Second-Team selections in 2004 and '06. The center midfielder for Bowdoin, Dennison keys the Polar Bear transition game and earned three assists this year. A talented multi-sport athlete, Dennison also earned First-Team All-NESCAC recognition in Women's Lacrosse in 2006.
Riker and Cutler both earn their first post-season awards following outstanding campaigns. Riker was second on the team in scoring with eight goals and four assists, including a pair of game-winners. Her game-winning tallies were timely, coming in a 2-0 NESCAC First-Round win against Trinity and a key regular season contest against Middlebury. Cutler was a revelation on the Bowdoin defense this fall, playing significant time on the Polar Bear backline. A starter in every contest, she scored her lone goal of the season in a NESCAC victory over Middlebury.
