BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College junior Julia King (Yarmouth, Maine) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. Led by the St. Mark's School graduate, Bowdoin claimed their third consecutive NESCAC Championship last weekend with victories over Williams and Middlebury.
King paced the Polar Bears on both ends of the field, as Bowdoin out-shot their opponents 43-10 in the two games. In addition, King collected two assists in the Championship win against Middlebury on Sunday, upping her season total to 19 and breaking the program record for assists in a season.
The Polar Bears enter the NCAA Tournament as the top-ranked team in Division III and the only remaining unbeaten team at 16-0. Bowdoin will host an NCAA Regional this weekend at Ryan Field, where the squad has won 31 consecutive games dating back to 2004.
