Bowdoin Nets NCAA Regional


BRUNSWICK, Maine - The top-ranked Bowdoin College field hockey team has earned a first-round bye and will host an NCAA Regional next weekend as selections for the Division III Tournament were announced on Sunday evening.

Bowdoin will face the winner of Wednesday's first-round match between Alvernia and Skidmore on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the second round. The other second-round contest will feature the Kenyon/Cortland State first-round winner against Rowan with that game slated to start at 2:00 p.m. The Regional Final will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Bowdoin students are free with ID. Tickets will be available at the door.

The NESCAC Champion Polar Bears (16-0) have made two consecutive trips to the NCAA Semifinals and boast an NCAA-best 31-game winning streak at Howard Ryan Field. Bowdoin was one of three NESCAC schools selected, as Middlebury and Tufts both grabbed at-large tournament berths.
