BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College field hockey player Ingrid Oelschlager (Roanoke, Va.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week. Oelschalger was a wrecking crew last week in a pair of victories for the top-ranked Polar Bears (11-0), who clinched the top seed in the upcoming NESCAC Tournament.
Oelschlager netted back-to-back hat tricks in two games, scoring three goals in a mid-week win over Maine-Farmington before putting on a repeat performance on Saturday with three more goals in a win over Connecticut College. Oelschlager leads the Polar Bears, and is second in the conference, with 26 points this year. Her 13 goals are tops in the league.
Oelschlager is three goals shy of tying Lindsay McNamara's rookie record for goals in a season. The Polar Bears, who have outscored their opponents 43-1 this season, will return to action this Saturday at Trinity College.
